Another Baby Story

She flew headlong into the waiting pile of baby prams and it hurt. It hurt a lot. Dammit, she thought, why’d things turn out like this? Everything was going fine right up until he showed up. Picking herself up from the floor, she touched her face where it hurt, her hand coming away wet and red. Fantastic, she’d have a great time explaining this tomorrow, but first she had to deal with the situation at hand, which wasn’t looking too favorable. Picking up the nearest baby pram, she hurled it at her assailant, running quickly behind it. The large, slightly rotund gentleman – he would-be attacker – grunted and raised his arms to defend his face, but not before she slid to the ground, spinning round on her hands whilst simultaneously lashing out with her legs, catching the man off-guard, toppling him over like so many bowling pins. She quickly clambered to her feet and regained her balance, a widening streak of red appearing in her hair. It was time to quickly finish this. Whilst the man was dazed, she grabbed what he’d been holding, some sort of plastic keycard-looking object. She gave the man a final kick in the head in return for the keycard, turned around and walked off in the opposite direction. Hoping she’d never have to deal with the man again, she smiled to herself, a wry smile. She hoped she’d never have to deal with him, yes, but deep down she knew that one day, she’d turn a corner and he’d be there, waiting. After walking down the corridor for what seemed a good few minutes, she turned the corner. There he was. Damn. Here we go again.
