Starting My Own Company
I’ve been speaking with friends and colleagues about starting my own small company and have gotten some very useful advice. It seems that most people wouldn’t want to take the risk of starting up something in the current economic climate, but others disagree, depending on the business you are interested in. A friend of mine recently opened her own mortgage broker business, and it’s doing really well so far. Rates are low, and people need good value mortgages to purchase houses in the area. She attributes some of her success to a mortgage bond she applied for. It ensures that she will abide by the laws of her state at her mortgage brokerage. Her customers feel more secure knowing that she has this bond. Unfortunately, I’m not sure there are any bonds available for my line of work. However, there are other ways of enhancing the trust of your business. You can join the Better Business Bureau, or other affiliated groups. Become active in your community by sponsoring activities and events that are put on my local groups. Make friends with your neighboring businesses. And participate in community meetings or local business gatherings. Luckily, I’m already an active community member, and feel that I have a strong base for a successful business.
